Commuting....

For the last three weeks I have been among the rest of the 9-5er's and experienced the Commute to Work!

I drive about 42 miles one way so, 84 a day, 3 days out of the week.  I've been spoiled the last few months with this every day home office, work in my jammies if I want to work life and gotten a glimpse of the cooperate way of life.  There are benefits to both. The one thing that bothers me is the hour commute there in the morning and the hour commute home.  I'm used to logging off my computer, shutting the light of and walking into the living room or kitchen and I'm home! :-)  Having an hour long drive is for the birds.

Anyway on my drive from #SMPMSP44 in Minneapolis to
Dermatology Consultants in Eagan yesterday I got to thinking about how people commute in the cities.  They have the Light Rail, Bus's, Taxi's and they ride their Bikes.  None of the above are an option to me. I live about 50 ok maybe 60 miles from the Twin Cities where our mode of transportation is by Car, Truck, Tractor, 4wheeler, Dirt Bike, Motorcycle, Side-by-Side, Horse, Small Commuter Plane...I think you get the picture.  Anyways, it got me thinking how long it would take me to ride my bike to work and according to Google Maps Bike Route it would take me 3 hours and 16 minutes to get to work. Holly Mollie! No Thank You! I would have to leave at 4am, and I wouldn't be able to stop for a Mocha on the way!

Now this also got me thinking about the new plug in cars that are supposed to be good for the environment that get like 30 miles to the plug in.  How in the world am I supposed to get to work on that? Am I going to stop along the way and plug into a "Current Bush" ? and even if there was a filling station on my way in, how long would it take to "Charge Me Up" 8 or more hours? It would take me 2 days to get to work and 2 more to get home. It would be easier for me to rent an apartment closer to work so I could just walk or bike.  But then when do I get to see my family? Definitely not an option that I am willing to even consider!

So I guess for now I will pray for work from home option to continue. And for those of you that ride your bike to work, good for you! Let me know when you want to come out and play in my world.
